Comic Odyssey FCBD & MCC

May 7 and 8 was very tiring but very enjoyable. I got a lot of free comics, courtesy of boss Sandy of Comic Odyssey. I also did 3 sketches for the comic book fans on that day. Nightwing, Cyclops and Kalayaan.

Thanks to Antonio Adlawan for supporting my comics. He bought one set (11 issues) of Kalayaan comics. There were others who bought all 11 issues of my comics but I did not had a chance to get their names.

I sold plenty of comics during the whole two (2) day event of MCC. I totally sold out issue #2, #5, #7 and #10 (time to re-print those issues), that is despite of some conflict of schedules and the Pacquiao fight.

I had lots for fun with cosplayers during the 2nd day of MCC. Just look at Captain Barbel here.

Julio Valiente is in the house. I really love it when Filipino Cosplayers are trying these Filipino movie characters. Sana next time ay mas marami pa. Para maiba naman. :-)

Free Comic Book Day this Saturday

Yup, it is the much awaited FREE COMIC BOOK DAY this Saturday (May 7). And I will be at Comic Odyssey Robinson Galleria from 10AM to 2PM. And from 2PM to 7PM, I will be at MCC (Metro Comicon) in Megatradehall SM Megamall. MCC together with National Book Store will also celebrate FCBD and give away free comics.

I just went to the facebook account of Comic Odyssey and was surprised on the staggering quantity of comics that they are going to give away. Just take a look at these pictures.

I want a lolipop.... :-)

New Fan Art

Here are the new Fan Art that I recently received. I will post them to the official Kalayaan Site once I find the time. I am so busy working on a top secret comics project. And it had most of my time going to private and government offices to process paper documents.

I first met Jethro on Comic Odyssey in Robinsons Galleria a few years ago when I delivered a few copies of Kalayaan issues. He then on bought a copy of my comics on the spot, and he is reading my comics since then. He recently emailed me and asked me when is issue #12 gonna come out. He said that he really enjoys the story of issue #9 to #11.

He is such a humble person. After I met him at comic odyssey, I later on discovered that he was already an international artits. He was already working on Image comics Hack/Slash Annual 2010 story by Tim Seeley. From time to time, I am considering on hiring him to do an issue of Kalayaan. He first made his first offer to help me on some of the pages after a few weeks when we first met. But for now, I am still raising funds for my top secret comics project. You will certainly here about it soon.

The Shrinking Dollar

Ang baba na ng U.S. dollar ngayon. As of this writing 1 U.S. dollar = 43.15 Philippine Pesos. Medyo nag stabilized na ang palitan sa halagang ito. Parang mahihirapan nang makabangon ang America dito. Medyo apektado ako dito dahil pati ang publisher ko sa America ay hinto daw muna kami sa pag publish ng Kalayaan comics ko dahil daw sa econimic crisis sa America. Pero once na gumanda raw ito ay ipagpapatuloy pa rin ang printing ng Kalayaan series.

I never thought the day that I would see an economy so weakened. But I guess that what life is, sometimes your up, and sometimes your down. Weather weather lang talaga.

Because of over fatigue, I forgot to bring a decent camera. Thanks to my facebook friends for providing these pictures for me. :-)

Very obvious na puyat ako sa mga pictures na ito. Dahilan po yan ng last minute production ng Bayan Knights: Indie Xclusive Powerhouse Division. Erico Calimlim did most of the work such as Pencil,Inks and Lettering. I only did the photocopying and stapling the comics, which took me up to 2AM in the morning just before the Komikon.

His name is Odracir Nebriaga. He is probably one of the youngest avid reader of Kalayaan. He asked me during the Komikon event on when is issue #12 of Kalayaan going to be released. I told him "Preferably this coming June or July. Meron ka na bang issue #11?". He answered "Opo, meron na po. Kumpleto ko na po ang issue #1 to 11". I was very surprised. It only meant that he went to Comic Odyssey or Sputnik to purchase issue 11 since this was my firs time to sell issue #11 on an event.

It is sure is nice to see these kind of people that supports the thing you do. It brings joy to a creator like me. It is like a fuel to get us going. And that is what Komikon is all about. It is for the comics readers that continues to support us. Komikon would not be possible if it's not for the consumers that continues to support our products.

Ready for Summer Komikon 2011

I just finished packing my inventory of comics that I will be selling on this Saturday event (Summer Komikon 2011). I will be selling my latest issue of Kalayaan, which is Kalayaan #11. And just like the other previous event that I attended, I will also be selling back issue of my comics (issues #1 to #10) for only P60 each. It is a little discount that I give for every event that I attend, since most of the back issues are priced at P65.

I also found some extra issues of Bayan Knights #1,2 and 3 (only two copies each) laying around my box of comics. If there are still room in my bag, I will try to bring it and sell these extra copies that I have. If you look closely on the cover of Bayan Knights #1. You will see that this has the white background. It indicates that it came from the first printing (the second printing has a black background), which is actually very rare now a days. So this is a rare copy that I will try to sell at Komikon. That is if I can still lift my bag. :-)

Crunch Time

And another thing that I really looking forward to on this event is the Filipino made animation from the Animation council of the Philippines. I hope that they notice my comics and made a Kalayaan Animation. :-)

Bayan Knights nagkanyakanya na?

There have been rumors circulating in the Internet for quite some time now that the Bayan Knights had gone separate ways? Doing separate projects? I think the best way to answer this is by watching this video.

I do apologise for any misconception or misleading about this. But there some truth in it. We did gone separate ways for the time being. Doing separate projects which is the Indie Xclusive, which is still under Bayan Knights. We have been working on this for months now and we hope the we make it on the day of Komikon which is on April 16. Wish us luck.
