Updated Kalayaan Website

I have just updated the Kalayaan official website kalayaancomics.tk. I have added fan art from known artist such as Carlo Vergara (creator of Zsazsa Zaturnnah), Gerry Alanguilan (Wasted, Elmer and Marvel/DC inker), Edgar Tadeo (Marvel/DC inker and the current artist of Dynamite comics Bionicman), Jethro Morales, Michael Layug and Bong Dacanay just to name a few. Making a total of 120 Kalayaan fan art in all. And there are a lot more image artwork that I have not yet uploaded at the site. It could probably reach 150 to 160 fan art when I am finish with it. With that, I would like to thank each and everyone who had spared a moment of their time to draw my character. I really appreciate each and everyone of it.  

I have also updated the STORES section with one store that I have consigned with just closed down and another just relocated. I must see to it the information there is always up to date. I have added also come links for the English digital version on Flipreads and of course the 75 National book store branches where I am currently distributing Kalayaan Vol.1.

I have also added in the VIDEO section some of the Media coverage that I had in the past.

I was shocked and excited at the same time by this announcement of John Zamar today. My information about this is still limited. But I will update this blog as soon as more information comes.

Another Kalayaan T-Shirt Design

Here is another Kalayaan t-shirt design that I just recently printed. Thank you very much to Ed Tadeo for giving me permission to print and sell this amazing Kalayaan art of him. He is one of the generous and kind person that I have ever met. Komikon is already tomorrow and he will also be there to sell his comics. Kalayaan T-Shirt on Summer Komikon 2012

I will be selling Kalayaan T-Shirt on Summer Komikon on May 26. I am very much pleased with the printing of this t-shirt. I have found a t-shirt printing company that does not only makes great quality print, the cost is very fair and it is also very near where I live.

This particular t-shirt that I am wearing (picture below) have already been worn and washed 3 times. But the quality of the print did not diminished what so ever. It can be wash manually or by washing machine.

Napansin ko lang. Bakit kaya karamihan ng mga pulubi dito sa Pinas ay merong mga anak? Sana naman ay wag na silang mag anak kung hindi naman kayang buhayin. Nakakalungkot lang. :-(

Free Kalayaan 0 at Flipreads

Because FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) is just around the corner (Saturday, May 5).I decided to give away Kalayaan #0 in both printed and digital form. Kalayaan #0 (english version) is now available as a FREE ebook at Flipreads website. Just click on the link HERE to download. But you still have to register on their site in order to download their free books. And while your already there, you might also want check out their free books. There are a lot of cool stuff there.

I will also give away a printed copy (photocopy only) during FCBD (or after, depending on my schedule).  I might be at Comic Odyssey in the morning and ComicX Hub in the afternoon. The printed version is very limited because there are only a few copies that I could afford to print and give away. So I hope to see you all at FCBD.    

FCBD on ComicX Hub

This is the cover for the anthology "Komiks All-Star" to be released by Comicx Hub on Free Comic Book Day on May 5. On this cover are (from top left) Zsazsa Zaturnnah, Kalayaan, Trese, Callous Duck and Ambush on a summer attire. Art by Carlo Vergara (the creator of Zsazsa Zaturnnah). Colors by Amos Jan Villar. 

I might say that Carlo did an excellent job on this one. I've never seen KALAYAAN having this much sex appeal. Looking at this makes me wanna go out and hit the gym and exercise. Yes, I envy his body now more than ever. :-)

I hope that you guys could go to Comic X Hub this coming May 5 (Saturday) to get this absolutely FREE comics. And just in case you do not know the location. My character is being use without my permission!

I just came from the "World Book And Copyright day" from Quezon Memorial circle. And when I checked my messages. The first message that I get is that my CHARACTER is being use WITHOUT my permission on a t-shirt design competition which has the current theme of "Kalayaan".

The executive director of this non-profit group was kind enough to inform me of one entry that he said that it is too similar from one of my work. He asked if I have send this image using another name or given any other person a permission to use my character. And they are willing to disqualify this naughty (or misinformed person about copyright laws) person. 

Here is the image of the entry for this T-Shirt competition and you judge for your self it this is just a similar character from my own. 

In my humble opinion, and probably most of the people that could see this will agree with me that it is my character that had just been cut and paste, and had a minor editing. This image is based on the cover of Kalayaan  #1. And to see the comparison... here is the cover of the first issue of Kalayaan comics.

I asked the executive director of this T-Shirt competition to disqualify this person immediately and give me his name so that we (indie creators) could teach him a little bit about the Laws regarding copyrighted materials.

Birthday of Catherine

Last April 9 was the birthday of my youngest daughter so we went on a little stroll at SM Mall of Asia. We had a lot of fun. :-)
