K10 at Comic Odyssey

I have just delivered Kalayaan #10 at Comic Odyssey at Robinsons Gelleria in Ortigas Center yesterday. I know, It's a very late delivery. This is due to my hectic schedule as a computer programmer. I had so much work this pass few weeks.

Anyway, please to check out Kalayaan #10 at Comic Odyssey if you still haven't got one yet. And I have also replenished all of my back issues there. So now, issues 1 to 10 are all available there.

Omi Remalante (the colorist of Kalayaan #5,7 and 10) will be releasing his very own comics this coming November 13 Komikon at Star Mall.

DC is just Awesome

DC is on freakin roll !! With releases of Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths , Batman: Under the Red Hood and the upcoming Superman/Batman: Apocalypse for this year alone, DC is not showing any signs of a slowdown when it comes to Animated Films. Upcoming projects were already announced earlier this year, like the upcoming Batman: Year One and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and All Star Superman.

Komikon 2010

The November 13 Komikon is fast approaching and I am still struggling to finish the script of Kalayaan #11 issue. I'm afraid that I might not release a new issue on this event. Sorry to those that have been asking me for a next issue. It is just because I have been very much busy with my office work right now. But I will still be selling issue 1 to 10 on this event. And I will also be signing the SULYAP Anthology together with the other contributors. Please do support this indie book so that more indie creator would have a chance to be in the next anthology if the sales of SULYAP will be good.

It really amazes me on how many new indie creator just suddenly pop up out of nowhere in just a very short span of time. This really goes to show that the local comics is alive. But unfortunately that the distribution is still that not good. I really hope and pray that this part of the comics business would be better in the future.

DC Overload

I think I am becoming more of a DC fan now than Marvel. There are so many show of DC/Warner coming up. First of is the Superman/Batman : Apocalypse that will be release this coming September 28. Here is the official trailer that I got from youtube.



And while at youtube, I also found out about this new TV series that they have been working on called "Young Justice".



And if that is not enough, here are what is happening in Smallville.

After all of this information had settled down in my head. I think I will also seach some Green Lantern Movie trailer (if there is one already).

Hero TV on Metro Comicon

Here is the video of Hero TV interviewing me and other artist during the Mertro Comicon last Aug. 2010. Sorry about the poor quality of the video. We just took it from our TV using our Canon camera. I am hoping to take a better one (and more complete one) when the video clip appear again in Hero TV channel.

Too bad that other indie artist and other Bayan Knights that was also interviewed were not included in this video. I guess that is the prerogative of the TV network.

Real Superheroes

I never thought that there were real Superheroes existing today. This video just change my perspective on things.

He kinda reminds me of Kick-Ass. A young guy doing an actual real patrolling of the neighborhood.

88 Fan Art Uploaded

I have just uploaded the 88th Fan Art to the Kalayaan Official Site. Yup, that's a whooping 88 wonderful Kalayaan Fan Art.

When I was just starting to create my comics, I never thought that I would get so many Kalayaan Fan Art, or any body would be interested enough to draw my character. So you could just image how greatefull I am to each and everyone who made one. As a matter of fact, there were so many have sent this past few months that I was forced not to put all of it in Kalayaan #10 because of the limited pages. But rest assure that I will put the unpublished fan art on the next issue. Thank you very much guys, I will continue to collect this as long as you continue to make them. :-)

Kalayaan #10 is now available in Sputnik comics shop in cubao.

Sudden Change of Name

For many months now, I have been waiting for a new spin-off title of Invincble. And that is the Guardians of the Globe. When suddenly, around some time in June. Image comics decided to change the title from 'GUARDIANS of the GLOBE' to the new 'GUARDING the GLOBE'. What the heck? What gives? The first title is much cooler than the previous one. And they have been using it for many years now.

I was looking on many comic news sites regarding this. But just like I am, they are also on the dark on this. Some of my friends told me some speculations that it had a conflict with 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. Those are just speculation. And we have a tagalog word for that -> 'Kwentong Barbero'. But I do not want to just speculate on things. I want hard facts. Then I remembered Ryan Ottley (artist of Invincible) having a DA(DeviantArt) account. And I recall that he replied on my comment once (kinilig ako nun... :D). He is such a nice guy, so I asked him about it. And today I was surprised (kinilig nanaman) that he answered my question.

As it turns out, The speculation of my friends are somehow true. The word 'GUARDIANS' is copyrighted by Marvel. What a bummer, so does this means that no one can use that word as a title other than Marvel?

Yeah... I know, the later part of my message shows that I am such a die hard fan boy. I just could not help it. :D
