Anonymous Critic

First of all, I just want to say, I do not like Anonymous people. If you are going to post Anonymously here, then forget it. I will not allow it. I will throw it immediately without even reading it. If you are going to say something bad or going to critic another persons work here in Internet. Post your real name. Be courteous enough to reveal who we are talking to. So that we will know how we can answer you properly. Have the guts to back up the things that you are saying. It's like your throwing a rock at a person then you will quickly hide on a crowd of people.

A few days ago, a person that I respect is being bad mouthed by anonymous coward people that has nothing better to do. He is being criticize on a noble work that he has initiated lately. Which is to organize a group of artist to create a brand new comics. In a way, this is to help revive the almost dead comics industry in the Philippines.

If you (Anonymous) do not like his work. Then simply don't buy it. If your intention is truthful that you would like him to improve his craft. Then say it in a good and right way. There is a saying “It is not what you say, it is how you say it.” He is matured enough to handle criticism. We are very much open to criticism. I myself will say in this blog that I have much more to learn. Life is a continuous learning process. But please, be man enough to state your name. Kung gusto mo mag kita tayo sa Megamall para isa isahin mo yung mga pangit nyang gawa. I promise that we will do our best to correct those mistakes that you are pointing out in our up coming comics. And I promise that there will be no trouble. Just matured people talking. Kung ganito kasi, at lease alam ko kung sino ang kausap ko. Mas klaro di ba?

The bottom line here is that you must be matured enough and responsible enough to accept the consequences of the things that you say. Do not hide behind the mask of anonymity.

Inking tryout

I tried my inking skills on one of a very talented artist.
This page sure had a lot of details. Very very detailed.
Details, details, details... it was crazy (but fun) inking this kind on detailed work. You can just imagine how small those people there in the streets walking. :D

Office Rant

Office Rant

1.)But in.
I hate it when I am talking to someone regarding our office work and then all of a sudden , someone (another officemate) would just but in without saying “excuse me” or anything and would talk to the person that I am talking to and drag him/her to another topic. Walang modo ba, nawawala yung momentum ng usapan namin. Specially kapag masyado nang technical ang usapan at malalim na. Nakaka diskaril. Lalo pa naman kapag critical ang usapan. Walang modo ba. Mag excuse ka manan sana kaibigan. Yung iba naman nag e-excuse kapag tapos na mag “But in”. Ngek,... :-(

2.)Please be specific
This is a small thing but had become very irritating. As a computer programmer, I need specific information to fix a problem. Most of the time an officemate would come to me tell me that there is a computer/data error or a program modification that she wants. I would then ask her, what part of the program? Sales? Receiving? Inventory? Reports? Data entry? It is like going to the doctor saying “Doc may sakit ako, pagalingin mo ako.”, the doctor would ask back “Ano ang masakit sa iyo?”. The patient would say “masakit po ang kamay ko.”. The doctor would ask again “kaliwa o kanan?”. The patient would say again “sa kaliwa po.”, The doctor would ask again “saan parte ng kaliwang kamay mo?”. The stupid patient would say again “sa hinlalaki po ng kaliwang kamay ko.”. Would it be nice if the moment he arrive at the clinic, he would already specify what is wrong? The doctor would be irritated if another patient would also do the same thing the next day, or the next hour.

Ganyan kasi ang nang yayari sa akin. :-(

International Standard Serial Number

A few weeks ago, I went to the national library at kalaw in Manila. I went there to get a ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) for my Kalayaan comics. It is a serial number that is quired by the leading book store in the Philippines. So if you ever want to get you comics to be sold there. Your comic book must have it. It will only cost you P120 and alot of sweat from going back and forth from the 6th floor office to the ground floor cashiers desk. Even with an elevator it is still tiring but very much worth it.

They will ask you to give them a sample of your comics. Each title will cost you P120. In my case, even though I have released many issues, I only paid P120.

After having the ISSN with me. I wanted to find out more about this serial number. I know that the book store uses it as a serial number. But I just know that there is more too it than meets the eye. So I went on the net and found this cool site on wikipedia. In this site, there was a code, a mathematical formula for the ISSN. The geek and mathematician in me suddenly kicks in.

Kalayaan ISSN : 2012-2772

mulitpied by 8,7,6,5,4,3,2 espectively

(take note... the last digit are not added on the computation since it is the check digit)

= 2*8 + 0*7 + 1*6 + 2*5 + 2*4 + 7*3 + 7*2
= 16 + 6 + 10 +8 + 21 + 14
= 75

75 mod 11 = 9

11 - 9 = 2

And viola 2 is the check digit(the last digit of my ISSN).... Correct... wow ...now thats cool.

School Program

I attended a school program of my kids. Linggo ng wika aking mga katoto... :D

It is very rare that I got to attend this kinds of events with my kids. So even it I have work, I made sure that I got to attend and see them sing and dance with other kids. This kinds of moments make it worth while being a parent when you see you kids on stage performing. It is a totally different joy that you will feel. :-)
Me with my 3 maria's,(from left to right) Vannesa, Joyce Nicole, Cathy and never mind.

Daddy Gio with Cathy(my youngest) sipping on an orange soft drink.. pahingi.
Your soooo cute Jane Catherine...
Your soooo cute, I want to eat you...hehehehe :D

Panic mode

I am now officially turning my panic button on..

It is already September 14 and I still have 3 pages to finish. I must finish this baby before my October dead line comes. And on top of that, there is my day time job as a programmer that is for the last couple of weeks have been giving me nothing but stress..

Well actually, I will not get sued or get fired if I ever deliver Issue #5 a little bit later than October 1. Well.. there are this few followers that I have (which you could count in one hand) that would be a little disappointed and might get irritated at me. I hope you guys understand. But don't worry, I always think and act professional when it comes to dead line. It is kind of a training for me if ever in the future I would get a high profile gig.

So I better stop blogging (for the moment) and start drawing.

DATA ERROR

This past few weeks at our office have been a head ache for me. The data that is being transfer from our branches to our main office was in total chaos. NAKAKA BALIW AHHHHHH.

It turns out, I made a bubu on the creation of the RR#(Reference Receiving number) of the Branch program. Even it was not intentionally it is still my fault. My program have become too complex because of the many featured that have been added due to the request of my boss. Modification have been added every now and then to make the system comply with the needs of our company. Because of these the system has become to complex for me see every bits of commands in my program.Sa madaling salita, naduling na ako kaka program. :D

Yung assitant ko pa naman next week ay on leave for one whole week. Darating ang asawa nya galing canada tapos mag honeymoon sila sa hong kong for one week. Ingit ako masyado. Buti pa sya. Ako naman, habang wala sya ay doble effort since wala ako masyadong maasahan na medyo literate sa computer sa office namin na katulad nya.

Oh well, another busy week for me as usual.. :-(

Front and Back cover of issue 5

This is the front and back cover of issue 5 of Kalayaan. It is an issue that you do not want to miss buying. With the amazing art work of international artist Ed Tadeo as for the back cover is already enough for you to buy this issue. Add to that the wonderful colors of Omi Remalante, Jr. for the front cover. With all modesty aside, this is a true value for your money. :-)
